I had a real curiosity to see what we looked like... as a whole kinda deal. To get some scope of the scene, to tap into the summonings and see the grooving on a big scale. To taste the last drop of the sun was fitting because I believe the lights had also just got turned on, another symmetry you can trust. I make a point on posts like this to congratulate you all on the mission. We don't see each other often enough in this way... "the long hang". We are sequestered into our tribes and I am confident we hold down those neighbourhoods by which we belong... but this... when the sum of the parts exceeds the whole, well that's good living and the bonds and memories that result help maintain those parts and that whole. New Years Day At Mahoneys Beach This flight took place during the infamous New Years Day Polar Dip at Mahoney's Beach in Antigonish County Nova Scotia. Dozens of people gathered to participate and spectate and there was even a fire to help warm folks up after their plunge. What I was not expecting was the etheral fog drapped over the sands. I believe the volumetric light contributed to the beautiful green tint found in the clear waters. The lack of wind also helped with a polished mirror finish that further added to the drama of the scene.

This was a property shoot for the most beautiful home of Michel and Zane DeNoncourt located in St. Joseph's Antigonish County. This video was captured in July of 2020. The editing on this was very clean and minimal, some speed ups were used to keep the interest high, but ultimately you get to see the property up close, far away and from every direction. I started with the Church to give folks who know the area some context right out of the gate.

Float The Story: Take a deep breath. I have prepared in this video a space between that which you are doing now and what is to follow after. This is five minutes to decompress, release all the weight and worry and to experience what it would be like to float gently down the mountain. I would encourage you to use these minutes to notice all the thought distractions that enter your mind and to release them as they arrive. Everything will be okay. As a drone pilot and a photographer a big part of the joy in creating comes from discovering a previously unknown spot. A place where light interacts with matter in the most unique and beautiful ways. Such was the case when I discovered the reflection of this tree in the shadowed yet still waters of Ogden Pond. With some careful maneuvering I was able to locate the centre of my bliss and chart a course that would tell the story of its source. The Gold Mists About This Video: A fella dreams of a morning like that which last Tuesday provided. The perfect temperature inversion laid a carpet of thick fog across Antigonish and combined with the rising sun's orange rays to turn the cool tones of lead into a fiery gold. A calm sea and a warm sunrise set the scene for Setting Day. The wakes created by the lead boats rippled the ocean into silken waves, each one stacking perfectly upon another. Outward and onward the men and women of Antigonish sail into a new season as much as a new day. The months preceding this voyage were tumultuous to say the least but this day held the promise of a fresh start, a return to something familiar, something easy to understand.. like the sea and sky. A lighthouse is a powerful symbol. It warns of danger, it represents home, it's a literal beacon to show you the way. Even for those of us that never venture to the sea these iconic structures sit on precipice of two worlds and serve as a nexus of identity for the lands and waters that they serve. Herein you see the Arisaig Lighthouse and Cape George Lighthouse rendered in all their glory against the backdrop of a crisp and beautiful February day. The pack ice had filled the strait and offered up a truly rugged backdrop for these architectural anchors. All of this video was captured by flying manually, its hard to describe exactly how many things you need to do with your fingers to keep the shot steady yet advancing but with time the delicate touch is slowly becoming my own. I was testing my drone out in some “light” snow conditions and ended up with some pretty commercial like footage as a car zipped by.

That which is obscured can lead to the light. The mystery provides a magic of revelation. What goes down, must come up.

Jimtown Beach and Crystal Cliffs is one of the best places in Antigonish to get un-interrupted lengths of sand and on this particular evening the reflections on the water provide gorgeous hues matching the falling sun.

When you’re almost out of juice and have no where else to land the familiarity and warmth of where you came from is beyond compare. Such was the case when with only 20% battery I made my way from high over the ocean back to our friends The Lukemans deck.

For this flight I took to the skies over Jim Town beach in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The morning provided perfect conditions for flying and I was even treated to a person walking the beach at the end of my flight. I would like to dedicate this video to Cyndy Doucet as this area was her favorite place and I like to think if she was checking in on us this might be the path she would take.

Chasing the setting sun over recently iced fields in Antigonish...

The most picture perfect cottage rests on the hillside near my home, the feat with this tour was to go look upon it and come right home. A bit of dramatic music and some video acceleration later and you have a pretty entertaining ride in front of you.

One of the supreme joys of my drone is magnification. That which is far away can get close and very much so in the opposite direction. I pulled this one off completely free form on my first take. I love the warmth from lights in the house and the sky. This is also the very first use of my fancy new opening animation!!! This is my 2nd published drone footage and I could not be more proud of the end result. This flight took me to the Old Marshy Hope Rd. church and the stunning forests that surround it. No small amount of effort went into these few minutes of footage... were talking a drone exam, a couple thousand dollars in equipment, about 20 hours of learning how to fly, some freezing cold fingers, and 3 hours of post production to build the intro, exit slides and select the music. All said a special type of magic has now entered my world as I can take my minds eye to the sky and take all of you along with me.

The brilliance of Brierly Brook could find no equal on this frosty January Day. A chance look in the distance gave me a clue something beautiful was afoot but only my wings could confirm my suspicion. Upon sight of the valley I knew I found another world. A crystal coated palace constructed with no effort. A jeweled fortress with an open door. Nature truly is the best designer and I would submit this footage as proof.
